Don’t cry because you’re ‘ugly’, smile because you’re unique. If there is something you really wish to change about yourself, do it. No one is stopping you from being who you want to be. And dysfunctional family? Learn from it. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from life is to not let other people’s (my parents, especially) bad decisions bog me down or hold me back. I am now blessed with the knowledge of what not to do, which is a lot more than other men and women my age can say. Don’t feel like your emotions are a burden. You’re a human fucking being and are entitled to your feelings. Talk about them. Work through them and make yourself be happy. It’s hard, but extremely possible. Bottling them up will only lead to mistreating your body and being unhappy with your looks, or taking them out on your family, leaving it dysfunctional. Every one gets dealt a bad hand every now and then, how you play it is up to you.
